Confirmation is about TRANSFORMATION not GRADUATION
But you will receive power
when the Holy Spirit comes upon you,
and you will be my witnesses
in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria,
and to the ends of the earth.
WHAT IS CONFIRMATION?
The Sacrament of Confirmation is one of the Sacraments of Initiation
(the others being Baptism & Eucharist),
wherein the candidate is anointed by the bishop and therefore recieves a special call to serve Christ in closer unity with Him.
The confirmed Christian is empowered by the Holy Spirit to live as a disciple of Christ in the world today & standing up for what the Church teaches.
WHAT CONFIRMATION ISN'T!
It is NOT Graduation from the Church,
going to Mass, Life Teen, etc.
It's a time of TRANSFORMATION
It is not becoming a part of the Church;
you are already part of the Church.
That happened at Baptism!
You are not becoming an adult in the Church.
You are still a teenager & you have a unique role in the Church.
WHERE IS CONFIRMATION IN THE BIBLE?
"Now when the apostles in Jersulem heard that Samaria has accepted the word of God, they sent them Peter and John, who went down and prayed for them, that they might recieve the Holy Spirit, for it had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid hands on them and they receied the Holy Spirit."
